Applicants for an original (first-time) License To Carry must complete a four to six hour classroom training, pass a written examination and a DPS Shooting Proficiency Course.
On-Line courses consist of the same classroom requirements. The shooting proficiency portion will need to be conducted in person (with a qualified LTC instructor). A 1-2 hour safety class is required prior to shooting.
Steps:
* Start/submit an online application (DPS Website), and schedule an appointment for digital fingerprinting with IdentoGo.com. (This may be completed prior to taking the LTC course)
* On the DPS website: (Scroll to the bottom) and Click on Apply under the New User area. - Once the online process has been started you must complete it within 1 year
- If you have not completed the online process within the year, you will have to restart the online process and pay your fee (again)
* Upload your appropriate course completion form (LTC-100/LTC -101 (On-Line Course)) and all supporting documents (in .pdf format) at DPS Contact Us
* After completing this process you should receive your license within approximately 30 daysTop; |
